The sea is everything. It covers seven-tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and life-giving. It is an immense desert place where man is never lonely, for he senses the weaving of Creation on every hand. It is the physical embodiment of a supernatural existence… For the sea is itself nothing but love and emotion. It is the Living Infinite, as one of your poets has said. Nature manifests herself in it, with her three kingdoms: mineral, vegetable, and animal. The ocean is the vast reservoir of Nature.

Zu Besuch in Hong Kong zwischen dem 19. November 2015 und 8. May 2016? Dann unbedingt den Kopf in den Nacken legen und die neuste Kunstinstallation von Anthony Gormley – EVENT HORIZON – genießen.
Einundreißig menschenförmige Skulpturen wurden in Hong Kong’s Zentrum und dem westlichen Stadtteil auf Dächern und auf Straßenhöhe montiert. Die Skulpturen richten ihren Blick in die Ferne und sollen die Relation zwischen der gebauten und der geerbten Erde in Frage stellen. Die Skulpturen sind dem Körper des Künstlers nachempfunden und symbolisieren eine bestimmte Zeit eines bestimmten Körperteils, sozusagen ein menschlicher Raum innerhalb des Gesamtraumes.
EVENT HORIZON engages the desire to look up and look again at familiar places in a new way. Within the condensed environment of Hong Kong, the tension between the palpable, perceivable and imaginable is heightened. My intention is to get the sculptures as visible as possible against the sky, allowing each to be seen as a body against light and space, entering in and out of visibility to those walking the streets. The installation should have no defining boundary.
